Gretchen Wood
Art therapist | Licensed Professional Counselor in training
Gretchen is an Art Therapist and Licensed Professional Counselor in training. Her goal is to provide a warm, grounded, and inclusive space for children, adolescents, and adults to explore their inner world through art therapy and arts-based psychotherapy. Whether you're navigating big emotions, life transitions, or simply seeking a deeper connection with yourself, Gretchen gently guides the process in a way that feels safe, affirming, and empowering.
Her sessions often include a blend of conversation, expressive artmaking, exploration, and reflection. You don’t need to consider yourself “artistic” to benefit from art therapy. Gretchen feels that creativity is innate, and engaging in art helps us become more mindful, authentic, and better connected to the present moment.
Her experience supporting clients has included a variety of settings that encompass individual therapy, school-based services, group work, and virtual sessions. Gretchen’s approach is holistic and person-centered, grounded in the belief that healing is not one-size-fits-all. She honors each person’s unique goals and needs.
In addition to her clinical training, she holds a certificate as a Holistic Health Practitioner and as a Level II Reiki practitioner. These areas of study help to support a more comprehensive and holistic approach to meeting individual needs.
Outside of work, she enjoys a variety of creative hobbies which include tending to her ever-growing jungle of houseplants, spending time with her family and pets, and enjoying quiet time outside with a cup of herbal tea. She has a deep affinity for nature and draws from it for creative and personal inspiration. Gretchen believes that time spent in nature plays a role in well-being and self-discovery. She stays active outdoors with hiking, kayaking, skiing, backpacking, and camping.
When asked to define her personal Be. Gretchen chose to Be. Authentic. For her, art and expression are not just therapeutic tools, but a way of living authentically while on a path to remembering who we are, and nurturing who we are becoming.
“The curious paradox is that when I accept myself just as I am, then I can change." ~Carl Rogers
